Addressing the Past as a Window to our Shared Future

This month's webinar showcased a presentation by Dr. Robert P. Jones, discussing his recent bestselling book titled "The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy: And the Path to a Shared American Future", a New York Times bestseller. Dr. Rachel Wahl, an Associate Professor at UVA, provided a preview of her research on conversations among students who hold diverse political views, as well as differing social and cultural backgrounds. The ability to understand our past — the good, bad, and truly ugly — and engage in meaningful, sometimes difficult, conversations provides a pathway to create a better future.

How are we to see the humanity in those who we consider different? How do we address our history in ways that do not further divide, but rather, create a shared vision of a better future?
